Pros Al's has the best homemade soup in town. The knoephla is my favorite. This is probably one of my favorite places to eat in Grand Forks. I usually have a burger fajita melt or the chicken fajita sandwich. They are always served with freshly grilled onions and peppers (yum). I also really enjoy the fish sandwich because it's huge and I like the tartar sauce. My fiance usually gets the ziggy burger and he loves it... he can't get enough of the spicy ranch sauce they put on it. The service is always good. Cons I wouldn't recommend the pasta salad as a side because the one time I got it, it tasted a little bit acidic, like it had fermented or something. Also, I don't really like having to pay at the register in the front because the line can get a little long sometimes and it clogs the front of the restaurant when there are people up there waiting to be seated. It would be more convenient for me to be able to pay at the table.

I thought it was good. Weekly special was amazing and price wasn't bad. Food was excellent and service was quick, maybe because we were some of the only people in there. Good home cooking nothing all that fancy.

I concur with Brad B. The food is pricey for what you get. The minimum you will pay for anything is about $8 and the quality isn't really all that great. The food is kind of bland, greasy and tasteless.... plus it gave me wicked heartburn, probably related to the grease. On the plus side, you blink after you order and your food comes out. Service is efficient, I just didn't care for the food.

I like Al's! I'm a vegetarian and get the nachos and they actually have beans for me to get instead of meat. My daughter enjoys the place, so it's a good place for kids. I haven't tried much else, however.

Went to Al's a while back and I won't be returning. It wasn't that the food was bad - it's your typical American Burgers/Pasta/Pizza. Also the service was friendly for being pretty crowded. No, I won't go back because the prices are nuts. I got an $8 cheesburger and that $8 got me just the burger. If you want fries, that's extra. I have never seen that before. Isn't it pretty customary to give people fries with a burger when they purchase one? Also, this wasn't a huge burger by any means. It was the average, typical burger. On that note, no thanks.
